At the Philipsburg Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church the Education Department provides resources and support to nurture the faith of Adventist students and teachers attending or working at non-SDA elementary, secondary and tertiary institutions on St. Maarten.
In the area of promoting Christian education, we have hosted the University of the Southern Caribbean, the St. Maarten Seventh-day Adventist School, and have provided resources aboutAdventistUniversitiesand colleges around the Inter American Division to our multicultural students, teachers and visiting friends.
The department hosts two annual programs: Students Day and Teachers Day.
Students Day
In 2008 the Education department celebrated its first Students Day. The day honors the academic achievements of church members in elementary, secondary and tertiary institutions. Over the years this has inspired members to achieve more and be leaders in their various schools and studies.
Through their efforts the church has been recognized for its academic strides, evangelism pursuits at church sponsored clubs, and its member’s positive impact in the community through various activities.
In 2011 an increase in the number of adult women going back to the classroom was noted. That same year male also excelled during their studies. Still in pursuing academic excellence we remember that our ultimate destination is Heaven.

Teachers Day
Teachers Day is a celebration to honor educators for their contribution at elementary, secondary and tertiary level institutions. The teachers are encouraging to continue their work and daily strive to reflect the Master Teacher Jesus Christ
Focus is given on principles and methods of presenting education model which includes mental discipline, instill sound morals, and mold young minds for Christian service.
